A former Athens-Clarke police officer is suing over claims of discrimination.
Roger Williams is asking for back pay, lost benefits, and punitive damages.
Roger Williams, who is black, says he was fired for excessive use of force in 2021, even though several white officers he claims were accused of “more egregious conduct” kept their jobs.
Williams, who filed suit last week, says race was the motivating factor for his termination.
