The Jackson County School Board schedules two hearings—one for this week and another next week—to gather public input on the plan to phase out Jackson County Comprehensive High School. Current plans call for construction of a new school in west Jackson County, and re-use of the existing facility as classroom space for dual enrollment programs with the University of North Georgia and Lanier Technical College. The public forums on the Jackson County high school proposals are set for this Thursday and next Monday.

The Jackson County School System will hold two public information hearings related to the planned phase-out of Jackson County Comprehensive High School.

The phase-out resolution refers to removal of instructional units (classrooms) from the GADOE inventory for the high school as a means of providing significant funding availability to construct a new high school on the west side of the county.

The first hearing is scheduled on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at 6:00 PM in the Professional Development Room at the Board of Education office (1660 Winder Highway, Jefferson, GA). The second hearing is scheduled on Monday, February 12, 2018, at 6:00 PM at Jackson County Comprehensive High School (1668 Winder Highway, Jefferson, GA).

The public is invited to attend.
