Freezin' for a Reason: Polar Plungefest Saturday at Sandy Creek

The Athens Rotary Club’s annual Polar Plunge is set for Saturday at Sandy Creek Park. Incoming Rotary Club President Kalki Yalamanchili says divers will jump into the lake at the park—with temperatures expected to be in the upper 30s or low 40s—to raise money for Lydia’s Place, which works with children who have aged out of Georgia’s foster care programs. Activities get underway at 10 at the Pavilion at Sandy Creek Park.

From the Athens Rotary Club website…

Welcome to the Rotary Club of Plungefest 2024, Freezin’ for a Reason!

The 13th annual Plungefest is on and set to take place on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 11:00 am at Sandy Creek Park.

The charity for 2024 that will benefit from the funds raised from the Polar Bear Plungefest is Lydia’s Place. Our goal is $32,500!

Lydia’s Place will be able to purchase a van to transport students in their Elevate Program to group meetings, therapy, medical appointments, college visits, and enrichment activities. Our Elevate Program provides affordable housing and resources for students who are working towards education, employment, and independent living.

Creativity and costumes are encouraged! Attitude is required!
