There is a heads up for drivers in Jackson County, where the Georgia DOT has closed County Road 229 Valentine Industrial Parkway in Jefferson for bridge repair work. The DOT says it’s not known when the road will reopen.

WHAT: Georgia Department of Transportation has closed County Road 229 Valentine Industrial Parkway in the City of Jefferson for bridge repair work.
WHEN: The closure and detour began June 23, 2022. No date has been given for reopening.
WHERE: Valentine Industrial Parkway will be closed to eastbound and westbound traffic. The City of Jefferson is detouring traffic from the parkway at Concord Road.
WHY: .The parkway overpass crosses over I-85. An inspection of the bridge indicated a beam was impacted by traffic from the interstate. The overpass was immediately closed to vehicular traffic due to safety concerns. The bridge requires maintenance repairs.. Additional information will be forthcoming as it is received..
