GDOT at work in Elbert, Barrow counties

Work is underway on a highway resurfacing project in Elbert County: there is new blacktop for Highway 17 from the Wilkes County line for almost ten miles north into Elbert County.

The Georgia DOT says it is work that comes with a price tag of more than $2.5 million. It will make for lane closures on State Route 17 until the job is done.

The DOT says drivers can look for lane closures on Highway 316 through Barrow County: work that began earlier this week is impacting traffic on 316 between Highway 81 and Harry McCarty Road in the Bethlehem area. Contractors will install concrete barriers and construct the support structure for a new bridge on 316. Work is expected to continue through April 22.
