A Hall County man is killed in a single-vehicle crash on Athens’ east side: Athens-Clarke County Police say Brandon Tolbert wrecked his truck on Lexington Road, near its intersection with Oak Drive. He died after being taken to an Athens hospital. Tolbert was 27 years old, from Oakwood. His is the 13th roadway fatality this year in Athens.

On September 12, 2023, at approximately 4:30 pm, the Athens-Clarke County Police Department responded to a single-vehicle crash on Lexington Road near the intersection of Oak Drive. The initial investigation indicates that a woodchipper truck with a trailer was traveling west on Lexington Road in the inside lane when it veered to the left, struck a curb, and sideswiped landscaping in the center median where it came to rest.
The driver, Brandon Tolbert (27 YOA, Oakwood, GA), was removed from the truck, provided medical care, and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
