Hart Co Commissioners take aim at rendering plants

Hart County Commissioners are looking to put the brakes on developers who might want to place chicken rendering plants in the county. Commissioners, meeting this week in Hartwell, voted to impose a 120-day moratorium on building permits for rendering plants.

The Commissioner vote was unanimous.

The Hart County Commissioners are looking to avoid a showdown of the sort that happened in Franklin County, where Pilgrims Pride tried, ultimately unsuccessfully, to put a rendering plant in Carnesville.
