Hart Co joins AirBnB lawsuit

Three cities across the state and one county in northeast Georgia have filed lawsuits against Air B and B: The issue is over taxes on vacation stays that Air B and B is supposed to be collecting, then turning over to local governments.

In the suit filed in federal court in Rome, the cities of Rome, Cartersville, and Tybee Island, along with Hart County, allege that the online marketplace has failed to hand over the occupancy tax money, saying that's against local and state laws.

By asking for class-action status, the three cities and Hart County are hoping that other cities and counties throughout Georgia will jump on board.
