Athens Judge David Sweat will preside over a court hearing that is now scheduled for Monday, the same day as the start of the new session of the Georgia legislature: Judge Sweat will hear arguments from lawyers for Dan Gasaway, the 28th District state Representative who is challenging the results of a December 4 runoff that saw him lose to former Banks County School Superintendent Chris Erwin. Erwin is making plans to take his seat in the Georgia House when the new session starts next week. Monday’s court hearing will take place in Banks County Superior Court in Homer.
Georgia’s 28th House District includes parts of Banks, Stephens, and Habersham counties.
