Investigators in the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office have a homicide on their hands. They say 34 year-old Sherman Allen of Elberton is behind bars, charged in the death of 32 year-old Tristen Smith. Smith died after what is reported as an assault at a convenience store on Athens Highway in Elberton.
Athens-Clarke County Police report the arrest of a woman who was armed with a baseball bat, threatening a woman who was spending time with her husband, and then threatening to run over her husband in a truck, eventually ramming his car with her truck. 31 year-old Danelle Durden faces an aggravated assault charge after her arrest at an apartment complex in Athens. No injuries were reported.
