Jackson Co Elections Board preps for special election to fill state House seat

The Jackson County Board of Elections met in a special called session Tuesday, looking to set up a polling place at the Municipal Building in Braselton. Voting in a special election on January 31 is set to move from the Free Chapel in Jackson County.

Voters will go to the polls on the last day of the month to choose a replacement for Danny Rampey, the Barrow Republican who won a state House election last November. Rampey has stepped aside after his December arrest. The 67 year-old is accused of stealing drugs from patients at a nursing home in Winder. Rampey was an administrator at the assisted living facility in Barrow County.
