Lane on I-85 is closed because of bridge trouble

The DOT says it will work to repair a stretch of I-85 in Hart County: a hole in the interstate has closed a southbound lane on the bridge over Lake Hartwell. The lane closure caused a 4-mile back-up on I-85 from South Carolina Tuesday.

“Until exploratory demolition work is accomplished to determine the extent of patching needed, we are unable to give a timeframe for how long the closure will have to remain in place,” says a news release from the Department of Transportation in South Carolina.
