Today is a registration day at UGA: students can sign up for spots in classes in the University of Georgia’s upcoming Maymester and summer sessions.
The Georgia Climate Conference that began Monday continues today at the University of Georgia’s Georgia Center. Work on plans for Athens polling stations is on the agenda for this afternoon’s meeting of the Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections, a session set for 4 o’clock.

There is state funding for water in Barrow County: the city of Auburn is getting more than $11 million from the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority. It’s money the city will spend on its water system infrastructure.
OSHA—the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration—is investigating a deadly workplace accident in Franklin County. The Franklin County Coroner says a worker at an apartment complex in Lavonia was killed when debris being carried by a forklift fell and crushed him. The man’s name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, who are believed to be in Mexico.
The University of North Georgia and its Cottrell School of Business say two of its degree programs will be offered on line. Management and technology management degrees can be obtained virtually starting with UNG’s upcoming fall semester.
The University of North Georgia says its astronomical observatory will be open through the summer, available for public viewing between 8 and midnight on Friday nights. The observatory and its 28-inch telescope is in Lumpkin County, near the UNG campus in Dahlonega.
