Local briefs: Warnock in Commerce, Prayer Breakfast in Athens

Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock paid a Wednesday visit to Commerce, getting a first-hand look at the SK Battery facility that will employ upwards of 2,600 workers in Jackson County: they will make batteries for electric cars. “The only way to have an economy that is sustainable, we must also have an ecology that is sustainable,” said Senator Warnock. His Democratic Senator colleague Jon Ossoff toured the sprawling facility in Commerce earlier this week.

Montez Carter, President and CEO of St Mary’s Hospital in Athens, is the featured speaker at this morning’s National Day of Prayer observance at the Classic Center.

The spring semester final exams that began Wednesday continue today at UGA: the University of Georgia’s spring graduation exercises will be spread out over three days, beginning one week from today.
