Local government calendar includes A-CC Commission session, Elections Board meeting

Athens-Clarke County Commissioners meet this evening: it is a 6 o’clock agenda setting session at City Hall. There will be more Commission talk about the ongoing work to replace a bridge on Fowler Mill Road, and a review of the Athens-Clarke County animal control ordinance.

The Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections meets in a special session set for 4:30 this afternoon at the Library on Baxter Street. The Board is still wrestling with the question of when to hold a special election to fill the seat of former Athens-Clarke County Commissioner Mariah Parker, who resigned last month. At issue is who will be eligible to vote and who will be eligible to run for the District 2 seat on the Athens-Clarke County Commission.

With the midterm elections now just seven weeks away, there is a new Elections Supervisor in Franklin County. Traci Creason takes over for former Supervisor Gina Banister. Cindy Banks has been named to a seat on the Elections Board in Carnesville.

Madison County’s Planning and Zoning Board meets at 6 o’clock this evening in Danielsville.
