Local government calendar includes Commission work session, Board of Elections meeting

There is a 4:30 meeting of the Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections. It’s a Board that is still trying to resolve the specifics of a special election to fill the unexpired term of former Commissioner Mariah Parker, who resigned as District 2 Commissioner last month. At issue is when the election will be held and who can run and vote in it.

An Athens-Clarke County Commission work session gets underway at 5:30 this afternoon, a meeting that will take place at City Hall.

Oconee County Commissioners meet tonight, a 6 o’clock session at the courthouse in Watkinsville. (Note: An earlier version of this story indicated Commissioners could vote on a rezone for a proposed commercial development at Highways 78 and 53. That matter has again been delayed.)

Tonight’s Barrow County Commission meeting is set for 6 at the Historic Courthouse in Winder.
