A-CC Historic Preservation Commission convenes

There is an afternoon meeting of the Athens-Clarke County Historic Preservation Commission: it is a 5:30 session at the Government Building on Dougherty Street.

The University of Georgia’s University Council meets this afternoon: the session that gets underway at 3:30 is yet another virtual meeting.

There was a Tuesday ribbon cutting in Jackson County, the ceremonial opening of a new West Jackson fire station in Braselton.

The Elbert County School Board, meeting this week in Elberton, has given tentative approval to a $31.2 million budget for Fiscal Year 2022.

Gainesville Mayor Danny Dunagan (pictured) uses his State of the City address to announce that will not run for another term. Dunagan was first elected Mayor of Gainesville in 2014.

Today is a groundbreaking day in Gainesville, with the ceremonial start of work on a new Gainesville North Parking Deck: it’s going up near Brenau University. It will mean more money for educators in Gainesville: teachers in the Gainesville City School District will be getting one-time fifteen hundred dollar bonuses.
