Oconee County Commissioners are looking for a MACORTS member, looking to fill an opening on the Madison Athens-Clarke Oconee Regional Transportation Study committee. Deadline to apply is March 17.

The Oconee County Board of Commissioners is seeking citizen applicants for one appointment to the MACORTS Policy Committee to begin immediately.

The Madison Athens-Clarke Oconee Regional Transportation Study (MACORTS) was formed in 1969 to provide a transportation planning mechanism. MACORTS is a conduit through which federal transportation funds come to an urbanized area. MACORTS is responsible for implementing a comprehensive, cooperative, and continuing transportation planning process. The organization is composed of a Policy Committee and a Technical Coordinating Committee. MACORTS is one of 16 Metropolitan Planning Organizations in Georgia. The MACORTS Policy Committee consists of voting and non-voting members. The vacant position for Oconee County is that of a voting member. Policy Committee meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month, usually on a quarterly basis, and alternate the location each year between Madison, Athens-Clarke and Oconee Counties.
