Make Athens Safe group plans another City Hall rally

Athens-Clarke County Commissioners meet twice today: a special called session is set for 5 o’clock this afternoon, with a 6 o’clock voting meeting to follow at Athens City Hall. Affordable housing is again on the agenda, as is more Commission action on the final phases of construction of the new arena for the Classic Center.

The group that is calling for changes to public safety and judicial operations in Athens holds another rally today: Make Athens Safe plans to gather outside City Hall before the 6 o’clock start of tonight’s Athens-Clarke County Commission meeting.

From the Make Athens Safe Facebook page…

This rally will be inside at the next Mayor/Commissioner meeting on April 2 at 6:00. We are demanding for them to start putting the safety and welfare of the citizens above their own personal agendas. Bring signs! They allow public comment, and I need everyone to speak! If you plan on speaking, message me what you’re speaking about so I can organize all the speakers.
