A Barrow County man is killed in a crash on the Highway 10 Loop: Jonathan Basave was 22 years old, from Statham. He died in the single-vehicle accident on the Loop near Prince Avenue in Athens.
University of Georgia Police say two suspects have been arrested after a reported armed robbery in UGA's North Campus Parking Deck. The victims of the robbery tell police they were asleep in the car when they were held up at gunpoint. No injuries were reported.
Athens-Clarke County Police are investigating a reported case of copper theft, with wire taken from a Georgia Power Company facility on Dairy Park Road.
There is a suspect in custody after a deadly shooting in Braselton: Allen Bredig is 62 years old. He's charged in last week's death of 52 year-old William Halbman, who was killed at his home in Braselton. Bredig is in the Jackson County jail on a murder charge; the GBI is in on the ongoing investigation.
Two men are facing child sex charges in Elbert County: Robbie Scoggins is 34 years old, from Bowman; Kyle Austin is 20, from Elberton. Both are facing charges stemming from their alleged sexual contact with a 14 year-old girl.
There are methamphetamine trafficking charges for an Elberton man: the Elbert County Sheriff's Office says 53 year-old Timothy Brown was also arrested on marijuana possession charges.
The Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office reports the arrests of eight drug suspects. Suspects from Dahlonega, Dawsonville, Jasper, and Cumming face charges that include methamphetamine possession and aggravated assault on police officers after, at one point, unleashing a dog on drug agents who were trying to serve warrants at a home in Dahlonega. No injuries were reported.
