The Georgia Department of Public Health says the Athens-Clarke County coronavirus case count has taken another turn for the better, with the two-week total of positive tests for COVID 19 down to 117 in the latest report.

The Clarke County School District sets the week of February 21 through 26 as the dates for early registration for Pre-K and Kindergarten in Athens.

There are no classes in the Clarke or Oconee county school districts this week: students and teachers are out for a week-long Thanksgiving break.

Early voting begins in Madison County, where November 30 runoffs will settle two City Council contests, one in Colbert and the other in Carlton. Both races feature candidates who tied in elections held earlier this month. June Hawkins and Ray Fornash each got 22 votes in Carlton, while Ellyn Trinrud and Greg Magrum each received 50 votes in Colbert.

Upwards of two dozen drug suspects are arrested in Winder: the GBI and the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office say the arrests cap an investigation that began back in May. The suspects were nabbed when warrants were served on six homes in Winder.
