NE Ga notes include murder trial, controlled burn

The NAACP in Elbert County is asking the Elberton City Council to look into what it says is the lack of diversity in the police department in Elberton.

The smoke that will billow over much of northeast Georgia today will come from a fire in Tallulah Gorge: it is a prescribed burn from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, covering about 1,300 acre in Tallulah Gorge State Park.
