NE Ga police blotter: another sentencing in Elijah Wood murder, injuries in dog attack in Winder

Sentencing is scheduled for today in the case of a Commerce man, convicted in the case of Akhil Crumpton: Crumpton, a former Georgia Bulldog football player, was sentenced earlier this week in federal court in Athens. He got 30 years in prison on federal charges stemming from the 2021 murder of Oconee County convenience store clerk Elijah Wood. 35 year-old James Armstrong pleaded guilty to charges of making false statements in connection to the purchase of a firearm used in the Wood murder.

A mother and her young son are recovering from injuries that are described as serious, injuries suffered in a pit bull attack in Winder: Winder Police say the 26 year-old woman’s dog escaped its kennel and mauled her and her 8 year-old son. Seven Hall County teenagers are arrested on burglary charges, accused in a break-in at East Hall High School. The suspects are 17 and 18 years old, from Gainesville and Gillsville.

A Habersham County man is facing child molestation allegations in Rabun County: David Summer is 52 years old, from Cornelia. The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office says charges against Summers include sexual battery.

A 20 year-old Cornelia man is in the Habersham County jail, arrested after a high-speed police chase that ended in Demorest: Noah Park faces charges that include reckless driving and driving on the wrong side of a highway.

The Georgia State Patrol has released the name of the North Carolina man killed in this week’s motorcycle crash in Habersham County. Donald Lewis was 70 years old, from Moorsville North Carolina. State Troopers say his motorcycle collided with a jeep on Highway 441. He died after being taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
