A man from Bowman is in the Elbert County jail and the person he allegedly attacked was taken to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center. 47 year-old Gary Bowman faces charges that include aggravated assault after an incident the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office says happened at his home in Bowman.
The GBI has released the name of the man killed in last week’s deadly officer-involved shooting in Banks County: Felix Catarino was 52 years old, from Commerce. The Banks County Sheriff’s Offices says one of its deputies shot and killed Catarino after Catarino charged at the deputy with a metal pipe. No deputies were injured.
Gainesville Police are investigating the death of a man who was struck and killed by a freight train: it happened last night on tracks near Atlanta Highway in Gainesville.
