Athens-Clarke County Police continue their investigation into last week’s deadly car crash on Lumpkin Street. Police say 20 year-old man from Commerce was killed when his vehicle slid off the roadway near Gran Ellen Drive and slammed into a tree. A 19 year-old passenger was injured in the accident.
A Gwinnett County man is arrested and charged in last week’s fatal hit and run wreck in Banks County: the Banks County Sheriff’s Office says 65 year-old Moon Yang of Suwanee was behind the wheel of the car that struck and killed a pedestrian on Highway 441 in Banks Crossing. Counts against Yang include hit and run and vehicular homicide.
A man from Flowery Branch was, at last report, still in the Hall County jail after his arrest on child molestation allegations: 41 year-old Jacob Litton surrendered to Hall County Sheriff’s deputies late last week.
A man from Gwinnett County is arrested after a shooting that wounded a sheriff’s deputy in Jones County: The deputy says his bullet-proof vest saved his life. The suspect—24 year-old Zachary Oliver of Snellville—allegedly opened fire on the deputy after a traffic stop near Macon. The deputy was treated at a nearby hospital and released; Oliver was arrested by officers from the police department in Gray.
