NE Ga police blotter: crash victim identified, assault suspect arrested

The three remaining members of the City Council in Hoschton will meet today to choose a replacement for the recently departed Hoschton City Council member Debbie Martin, who resigned from the Council earlier this month to make a run for the mayor’s office. The Georgia State Patrol has released the name of a Hall County woman killed in a crash on Highway 365: Millie Thomas was 84 years old, from Lula. She died this week after a wreck that happened last weekend on 365 near Jaemor Farms Road. She passed away at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. A woman from Maysville was injured in the accident and remains hospitalized, also in Gainesville.

He’s out of the hospital and now in the Hall County jail: 22 year-old Mark Curry was stabbed by a woman in the parking lot of a movie theater in Gainesville earlier this month. Gainesville Police say it was an act of self-defense: they say Curry was strangling the woman when she stabbed and wounded him. He’s facing charges that include aggravated assault.

A man from Virginia becomes the second to be arrested and jailed after an I-85 road rage incident that happened earlier this year: 45 year-old Enrico Mayes is from Petersburg Virginia. He and 42 year-old Derek Coleman, also from Virginia, are charged with shooting at a truck on the interstate in Oconee County South Carolina. They were arrested by sheriff’s deputies in Hart County. They are facing attempted murder charges.
