Former Madison County Sheriff’s Deputy Trey Adams was sentenced Monday: he gets life in prison for the 2019 murder of Benjamin Cloer. The 26 year-old University of Georgia student was killed at a home on Jefferson Road in Athens.
Police in Winder report the arrest of a suspect in a string of smash and grab robberies: 57 year-old Dereck Johnson is from Winder and is charged in a string of break-ins that date back to November of last year.
A 66 year-old man from Hart County is booked into the Elbert County jail: there are child molestation allegations leveled against Bobby Cross of Hartwell. Cross is accused of inappropriate contact with a child that allegedly occurred while he worked as a para pro in the Elbert County School District. He has resigned in the wake of the allegations.
Gainesville Police are reporting the arrests of two suspects in the recent robbery of a pawn shop in Gainesville: store owners say they lost more than $20 thousand worth of guns and jewelry; police say most of the stolen merchandise has been recovered. 28 year-old Shuntaria Davis and 30 year-old Rodney Harrison were booked into the Hall County jail.
