NE Ga police blotter includes plane crash in Athens, pit bull attack in Hull

ROBBERY US129 HALL

National Transportation Safety Board investigators will come to Athens to try to figure out why a small plane lost power shortly after takeoff from Athens-Ben Epps Airport: the plane crashed off Shoal Creek Drive not far from the airport. The pilot, an attorney from Athens, and his passenger were able to escape with what Athens-Clarke County Police say were minor injuries. The plane was destroyed.

The pit bull that attacked and injured a child in Madison County has been euthanized. The dog mauled the 3 year-old girl at a home in Hull. The girl was taken to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.

There are charges for a student in Stephens County: the 14 year-old is accused of threatening a shooting at Stephens County High School in Toccoa, threats allegedly made earlier this month.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office was, at last report, searching for a robbery suspect accused of hitting a convenience store clerk during a holdup that happened earlier this week in Gainesville. Surveillance photos shows the suspect wearing a mask, blue hoodie and light-colored blue jeans with rips and holes. An undisclosed amount of cash was reported stolen.
