Mountain Valley Bank in Jackson County has an account set up for contributions to a fund for Bobby Patterson, who continues his recovery from a Memorial Day vehicle vs pedestrian accident: Patterson was hit by a car after leaving a Memorial Day service in Jefferson. He was, at last report, still hospitalized at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, recovering from broken bones in his legs and face.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says someone has been stealing cattle gates in south Jackson. The gate thefts have been reported along Geiger and WH Hayes roads in Jackson County. There is, so far, no word on suspects.

The Elbert County Sheriff’s Office says two people--one from Elberton and another from North Carolina--have been arrested on drug trafficking charges. Tishone Askew and Meyondre Leary were caught with what deputies say were cocaine and marijuana. They were, at last report, in the Elbert County jail, awaiting bond.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what is reported as a possible drowning: victim Jason Smith was 50 years old, from Gainesville.
