NE Ga police blotter: motorcycle crash ends chase in Banks Co, vehicle injures pedestrian in Royston

Automobile break-ins investigated in Elberton

A man from Madison County is injured when he crashes what police say was a stolen motorcycle on Highway 441 in Banks County, ending a high speed chase that began in Habersham County. 45 year-old Robert Brown was, at last report, hospitalized in Athens.

Police in Elberton and deputies in the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a string of automobile break-ins, at least half dozen reported over the past two weeks in Elberton.

The Georgia State Patrol says the driver whose vehicle struck and injured a pedestrian in Royston has been charged with DUI and could face additional charges. The person who was hurt was taken to a hospital in Greenville South Carolina.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office says it has a person of interest in threats that led to this week’s lockdown at the Ritz USA plant in Hartwell. Calls to the plant came from a person who said he would shoot workers at the facility off I-85. Investigators say the person believed responsible for the call is in jail on unrelated charges. His name has not been released.
