A Stephens County woman is indicted on drug trafficking charges in Franklin County: Carolyn Vinson is 29 years old, from Toccoa. She and 46 year-old Rocky Holmes, also from Toccoa, were arrested last year in Canon, caught with what drug agents say was methamphetamine, marijuana, and ecstasy.
There are federal drug charges for a man in Hall County: the DEA says its undercover agents purchased methamphetamine and fentanyl from Ernesto Esparza. The Gainesville man is accused of selling four kilos of meth and more than 100 fentanyl pills.
His lawyer says it was a case of self-defense; prosecutors are now charging Steven Cooper with attempted murder. The 26 year-old from Lula was arrested last month after two people were shot and wounded in what Hall County Sheriff’s Office investigators say was a case of road rage. It happened March 16 on Highway 365 just north of Gainesville.
Police in Gwinnett County say they clocked the driver doing 114 miles per hour on a highway in Gwinnett County. The driver’s explanation: late for a date. The speeding landed the driver a trip to the Gwinnett County jail.
