NE Ga police blotter: stabbing, burglary arrests in Athens, shooting probed in Gainesville

Athens-Clarke County Police say injuries to a holiday weekend stabbing victim were not life-threatening: the male victim tells police it happened during a domestic disturbance at a residence on Upland Court in Athens. Police say a 30 year-old woman was arrested and charged.

Athens-Clarke County Police report the arrests of two burglary suspects: police say 48 year-old Jason Mills and 58 year-old Kenneth Gravitt, both of Athens, are accused of breaking into a business on Jefferson Road.

Gainesville Police are investigating a July 4 shooting: one person was treated for what were described as non life-threatening injuries after a shot was fired from one car into another on Dawsonville Highway in Gainesville. The shooting victim was treated at and released from Northeast Georgia Medical Center. The shooting suspect was, at last report, still at-large.

A 24 year-old man from Gwinnett County is arrested after a police chase in Hall County: the Sheriff’s Office in Gainesville says Edger Ruiz faces a long list of counts that include DUI.

Two brothers from California have been arrested for the alleged theft of mail containing at least $1 million in checks. Police say the checks were stolen from postal drop boxes across metro Atlanta. The latest theft happened last week at the post office in Flowery Branch.
