NE Ga police briefs: inmate dies in jail, teen murder suspect arrested

The GBI is investigating the death of a female inmate from Hall County: 28 year-old Mercedes Brackett died in the White County jail. Initial reports say there was no indication of foul play in her death.

A Hall County teenager faces a murder charge in Gwinnett County: 18 year-old Joshua Brandt was arrested over the weekend. He’s the accused triggerman in last Friday’s death of James Ross. Gwinnett Police say the 38 year-old Loganville man was shot and killed in Suwanee.

One other person was transported to the hospital with a minor injury sustained while running from the building.

Police responded to reports of an active shooter at the business Friday at 2:30 p.m. Dozens of law enforcement vehicles responded to the scene, a manufacturing building in Gwinnett County.

Police said a man covered in a long, white garment with a white head and face covering fled the scene.

Police have not released a motive. The relationship between the suspect and the victim is unclear.
