North Oconee students meet with Congressman at Capitol

10th District Congressman Mike Collins, the Republican who represents Athens in the US House, welcomes three students from North Oconee High School to his office in the Capitol: Anyi Lin, Viveka Mehrotra, and Jack Rumpf are STEM students at North Oconee and are among the winners of this year’s Congressional App Challenge.

The three students designed a game-based app to help young people develop and practice the knowledge, beliefs, and behaviors needed to participate in civic life.

On Thursday, April 11, 2024, Representative Mike Collins (GA-10) welcomed the winners of the 2023 Congressional App Challenge to Washington, D.C.  North Oconee High School students Anyi Lin, Viveka Mehrotra, and Jack Rumpf traveled to Capitol Hill to demonstrate their app at the annual #HouseOfCode, the most prestigious demo day in student STEM.

The three students designed a game-based app to help young people develop and practice the knowledge, beliefs, and behaviors needed to participate in civic life.
