Northeast Ga cities, counties to share in federal water infrastructure dollars

Several cities and counties across northeast Georgia will share in the 422 million federal dollars allocated by the state for water system upgrades: there is funding for water infrastructure in Auburn and Winder and in Braselton and Hoschton; also in Comer, Crawford, Toccoa, and in Banks County.

From the Georgia News Network…

Governor Brian Kemp says millions of dollars in federal funds will improve Georgia’s water and sewer systems.

Governor Kemp wants to make sure communities in high-need areas of the state have reliable and safe drinking water. He has earmarked a portion of the money to accomplish that goal.

Kemp is also funding wastewater treatment systems that will help to keep Georgia’s lakes and rivers cleaner. The AJC reports funding is part of the $4.8 billion the state expects to receive in federal relief money that Congressional Democrats approved last year over Republican opposition.
