Oconee County posts on its government website a notice for business owners in Oconee County: they will be collecting an additional penny per dollar in sales taxes starting in April. That’s because Oconee County voters, in a referendum this past November, approved a transportation sales tax referendum. Oconee County’s sales tax will climb from 7 to 8 percent on April 1.

Dear Business Owner:
The purpose of this notice is to inform you that the Oconee County sales tax rate will be increasing from 7% to 8% effective April 1, 2023.
On November 8th, 2022, the TSPLOST referendum was approved by Oconee County voters. TSPLOST is a one-percent Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales and Use Tax that will be used exclusively for transportation purposes.
