Oconee County and North Oconee high schools have received Silver level Advanced Placement School Honor Roll recognition for the 2022-23 school year. Oconee County and North Oconee were cited for their work creating AP programs that deliver results and broaden access for students.

“We are incredibly proud of Oconee County and North Oconee for being named again to the AP School Honor Roll,” Superintendent Jason L. Branch said. “This achievement spotlights our two high schools that are creating key opportunities and our students who are taking advantage of them. AP courses and college preparation are fundamental to our students’ future success as they gain knowledge, skills, and critical-thinking abilities.”

To qualify for the AP School Honor Roll, schools must meet each of the following criteria anchored in research-based relationships between AP and college outcomes:

• Forty percent or more of the graduating cohort took at least 1 AP Exam during high school.

• Twenty-five percent or more of the graduating cohort scored a 3 or higher on at least 1 AP Exam during high school.

• Two percent or more of the graduating cohort took five or more AP Exams during high school (at least one of which was taken in ninth or 10th grade).

“AP represents an opportunity for students to challenge themselves, earn college credit and placement, and potentially boost their grade point averages,” said Trevor Packer, College Board Senior Vice President for AP and Instruction. “These schools have shown that they can expand access to these college-level courses and still drive high performance. They represent the best of our AP program.”
