Oconee County Schools has earned a mean SAT composite score of 1133 for the 2021 testing period, well above state and national mean scores. OCS is ranked fifth in the state among county school systems and is the only system ranked in the top 10 in Northeast Georgia.

“Even with all the uncertainty and challenges our students have faced during the time of a worldwide pandemic, they continue to achieve at the highest academic levels in the region, state, and nation,” said Superintendent Jason L. Branch. “I commend our recent graduates and current students, as well as their parents and K-12 teachers, for these results - which point to academic excellence, resilience, and preparedness for post-secondary success.”

College Board redesigned the SAT for 2017 on two sections: 1) evidence-based reading and writing and 2) mathematics. This set a new baseline for future years’ comparisons, with scores since 2018 below:

Said State Superintendent Richard Woods, “Despite the fact that part of their high-school education took place against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, Georgia’s class of 2021 did an outstanding job on the SAT — both increasing scores and outperforming their counterparts in the nation’s public schools. I am extremely proud of these students and these scores are a testament to their hard work, and the hard work of educators in Georgia’s public schools who continue to offer stellar educational opportunities despite the challenges of the last year and a half.”
