Oconee Co vet dies after car crash in South Carolina

There are new details on the car crash that claimed the life of Oconee County veterinarian Monica Kucher Mueller: the coroner in Jasper County South Carolina says it was a single-vehicle accident. It happened as the owner and operator of the Good Hands Veterinary Clinic in Oconee County was en route to Hilton Head. She died after being taken to a hospital in Savannah. Dr. Monica Kucher Mueller was 52 years old. She leaves behind husband Eric Mueller, a professor in the University of Georgia’s School of Veterinary Medicine. She was also the mother of two sons.

Following is an email from Dr. Sheila Allen, dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia...

Dear CVM community,

I am so very sorry to tell you all that Dr. Monica Kucher Mueller, wife of Dr. Eric Mueller, Professor of Large Animal Surgery, died last night following a tragic car accident.  Dr. Kucher was a very devoted mother to her sons Kurt and Kyle, and a beloved member of the Athens community.  She also was an exceptional veterinarian and practice owner of Good Hands Veterinary Hospital in Athens.

We do not yet know when memorial services will be held; but will send out an announcement when this is determined.

Please join me in keeping Eric, Kurt and Kyle and the entire Mueller family in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.

Sheila Allen
