Chief defends decision to fire officer who hit suspect with patrol car

Taylor Saulters was hired as an Oglethorpe County sheriff's deputy on Monday, just one day after he was dismissed by the Athens-Clarke County Police.

The Oglethorpe County Sheriff has made more remarks about the hiring of Officer Taylor Saulters, the Athens Police Officer fired on June 2 after hitting a man running from police. The initial story can be found here. 

Oglethorpe County Sheriff David Gabriel took to Facebook to respond to a June 14 event that will be held at the Oglethorpe County Jail.

Aside from this post, the only public comments from the Oglethorpe County Sheriff since the hiring of Saulters were also on Facebook on June 4.
