Oglethorpe Co shooting victims identified

We have today the names of the two men whose bodies were found in a home near Lexington earlier this week: the Oglethorpe County Sheriff's Office says Jason Colvard was 51 years old and his son Andrew was 27. Investigators say the two men were shot to death, apparently in a murder-suicide. It's not clear which man shot the other before shooting himself.

The Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation after the discovery of two bodies at a home in the Eastern part of the county. The GBI is working with the Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office investigators on the case. The names are not being released until the family is notified. The deaths do not appear to be natural. The case will continue to be investigated. Based on the preliminary findings there is no current threat to public safety or the well being of the good citizens of Oglethorpe.
