An Elberton man was, at last report, being held without bond at the Elbert County Detention Center: 26 year-old Contrevious Johnson faces charges that include aggravated assault after allegedly firing gunshots at a car in Elberton. He is also looking at a count of criminal damage to property. No injuries were reported.
There are guilty pleas from two men charged in the 2019 murder of a woman from Lumpkin County: Isaac Huff is 20 years old, Dylan Reid is 21. Both are from Dawsonville. They were given prison sentences for their role in the death of 21 year-old Hannah Bender, whose body was found in a shallow grave in Forsyth County. Huff gets 12 years, Reid will serve 15. Huff and Reid have testified that the killing was planned by 24 year-old Austin Stryker and 79 year-old Jerry Harper. Stryker has a court appearance scheduled for Friday.
Drug agents in Dahlonega say they seized 300 grams of methamphetamine and arrested four suspected meth traffickers in a raid on a home in Lumpkin County.
There’s been a deadly plane crash in Wilcox County: the pilot of a crop duster was killed when his plane went down in a field outside Pineview, apparently after hitting heavy duty power lines.
