Police blotter includes arrest of Toccoa man, drowning in Lake Hartwell

A man from Stephens County is arrested in Oconee County South Carolina: 27 year-old James Dugas is from Toccoa. He’s facing counts that include grand larceny after allegedly breaking into and stealing from a shop in Fair Play South Carolina.

A grand jury in Hartwell hands up indictments in the case of an inmate accused of assaulting a female guard at the Hart County jail: 35 year-old Perry Rucker faces counts that include aggravated battery and assault on a peace officer. It happened back in May.

A 60 year-old man from Taylors South Carolina has drowned in Lake Hartwell: investigators say Louis Crawford fell off a dock.

A store cashier was shot and killed in what police in DeKalb County say was an argument over the way a man in the store was wearing a coronavirus mask: three other people--including an off-duty DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputy--were shot and wounded. The deputy is in stable condition, as was the accused shooter. Victor Tucker is 30 years old, from Palmetto.

A woman arrested in 2017 for leaking secrets to a news organization is released from prison. Former National Security Agency employee Reality Winner was working at a defense contractor in Augusta when she was arrested for smuggling classified documents about Russian hacking during the 2016 election. She was sentenced to more than five years in prison. On Monday, the 29 year-old was released early from a federal facility in Texas.

The suspect in three shootings in Georgia and Alabama was scheduled for a Monday court appearance. 39 year-old Justin Roberts was arrested over the weekend in Columbus, accused in shootings there and in Phenix City Alabama. Four people were wounded.
