Athens-Clarke County Police are investigating the report of a 19 year-old University of Georgia student who says she was sexually assaulted in a motel room in downtown Athens.

The GBI investigation continues in Bowman, where an Elbert County Sheriff’s Deputy was wounded after shots were fired in a confrontation with a suicidal man in a cemetery. The man was not injured and was arrested; the deputy was shot in the hand and was treated at and released from a hospital.

A Barrow County man has been banned from a Five Guys restaurant for two years because of a face mask dispute. He was not wearing one when he got into an argument last week at the restaurant in Winder. He was charged after refusing to show his identity to a Barrow County Sheriff’s deputy.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a Thursday school bus accident in Hall County: the bus was heading to Cherokee Bluff High School in Flowery Branch with four students on board. There were no injuries reported.
