Police probe reports of gunshots, robbery, arson

Athens-Clarke County Police were, at last report, still searching for suspects after gunshots are fired near Satterfield Park off Cherokee Road. There were no injuries reported. 

Athens-Clarke County Police investigate a reported armed robbery: the victim tells police he was robbed at gunpoint in his home on Hilltop Road in Athens. 

A 53 year-old Athens woman faces arson charges: Athens-Clarke County Police say Victoria Simpson set a fire that damaged property at a home on West Broad Street, apparently after a domestic dispute with a man who lived there. Simpson was arrested a short time later in Broad Acres and was booked into the Clarke County jail. 

Bond is set at $15,000 for South Carolina shooting suspect Mark Radcliffe, who was arrested in Elbert County after allegedly shooting and wounding two men at a sports bar in Anderson. The 68 year-old Radcliffe is also suspected in an armed robbery in Abbeville South Carolina. 

Investigators in the Barrow County Sheriff's Office were, at last report, still trying to find the driver in a deadly hit-and-run wreck: 66 year-old Marvin Barnes was struck and killed while walking his dog on Jefferson Road in Statham. Witnesses say the car that hit him was a gray or silver Infinity, likely to have front-end damage.

A Gainesville woman has died from injuries sustained in a car crash that happened almost a month ago: Monica Thomas was 38 years old. The Georgia State Patrol says the wreck happened November 13 on Georgia Highway 365 in Stephens County.
