Police reports include arson attempt in Hartwell, home invasion indictments in Toccoa

The blaze that burned a manufacturing facility in Hart County has been ruled arson. The fire caused little damage to the Lee Manufacturing and Engineer Company on Royston Highway in Hartwell. There is an ongoing search for an arson suspect.

A grand jury in Stephens County has handed up indictments against Laterrell Alexander. The Hart County man is charged in a home invasion that happened in Toccoa. Police in Toccoa say two women were held at gunpoint.

A shooting suspect is in the Hart County jail: the Sheriff’s Office in Hartwell says 42 year-old Maurice McCord surrendered to deputies after the shooting that wounded a woman at a home on Fleming Road in Hart County.

There are new allegations for DeMarvin Bennett, who is serving a life sentence for the 2019 murder of Hall County businessman Jack Hough. Hough was shot and killed outside a pharmacy in Gainesville: Bennett is now accused in the death of another inmate at a prison in Augusta.

A man operating a concrete pump truck in Forsyth County is dead after an accident pushed him into the street where he was run over by a dump truck. The victim was 49 years old, from Piedmont South Carolina.
