A Covington police officer was transported to the hospital and a man is dead after a shooting at a Covington Hotel.
CPD confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that an officer was taken to Grady Hospital Tuesday night after being shot in the head at the Oyo Hotel on Alcovy Road at around 10:30 p.m.
Police said a man was also shot during an exchange of gunfire and has been pronounced dead.
Covington Chief Of Police Daniel Digby said officers were responding to a domestic fight.
At this time, details are limited. Police have not said what led up to the shooting.
Newton County Sheriff’s deputies are also on the scene assisting.
