Jared Bailey says he wants to return to the Athens-Clarke County Commission: Bailey, who served two terms behind the rail before losing a reelection bid in 2018, says he will be a candidate in a newly reconfigured District 5. It is the seat now held by Tim Denson who, with Commission redistricting, cannot run for reelection in May. Also running in District 5 are local writer Matthew Pulver and Clarke County School District Administrator Dexter Fisher.

US Senate candidate Gary Black is among the scheduled speakers for tonight’s meeting of the Oconee County Republican Party: John Barge, who is running to regain the state School Superintendent’s Post, is also set to appear at the 6:30 meeting at Marswood Hall.

Realtor Elliot Rogers joins the race for an open seat on the Oconee County School Board: Rogers joins Julie Mauck and Ryan Hammock in the race to replace Wayne Bagley, who says he is not running for another term on the School Board in Watkinsville.

Hall County Commissioner Kathy Cooper says she will be a candidate for reelection. Cooper represents District 1 on the Commission in Hall County.
