Protests at UGA and other schools, calling for COVID mandates

The demonstrations that began Monday are scheduled to continue through the week on campuses in Athens and around the state: faculty and staff at the University of Georgia and other schools are protesting in favor of mask and coronavirus vaccine mandates. There was a Monday counter-demonstration from those opposed to mandates, a protest outside UGA’s Tate Student Center.

It is another coronavirus concession in Atlanta: Clark Atlanta University classes will switch to a remote instruction model through at least Friday to make time for the strengthening COVID 19 safety protocols.

Savannah adds incentives for coronavirus vaccinations: $500 bonuses for Savannah-Chatham County government employees who get their vaccine shots.

The latest data from state health officials suggest the summer spike in coronavirus cases might have hit its peak in Georgia.
