Shooting suspect sentenced, murder suspect sought

48 year-old George Jones gets life in prison, his punishment for his role in a 2017 home invasion on Vintage Court in Athens: a 32 year-old woman was shot and critically wounded. Jones was convicted and sentenced in Clarke County Superior Court. 

While Athens-Clarke County Police continue their search for murder suspect Philmon Chambers, they say they have found his pick-up truck: the 30 year-old from Decatur is wanted for the December death of Rodriguez Rucker, who was shot and killed at a home on Royal Court in Athens. Police say Chambers might be hiding somewhere in Atlanta. 

The Georgia State Patrol reports the arrest of an Athens man on drug charges: State Troopers say the 23 year-old driver stopped on Gaines School Road had marijuana and methamphetamine in his car. He's also facing weapons charges, caught with what the State Patrol says was an AR-15 and a shotgun.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office says drug agents have busted a marijuana grow house and confiscated an estimated $200,000 worth of pot. It happened at a home outside Hartwell. 49 year-old Nathan Johnson and 57 year-old Melissa Roebuck have been arrested and charged.
